Our group is a combination of socializing, fun, education, and hands-on meetings which are held the second Friday of every month, from September through May. Our gatherings are usually hosted at a member’s home where we have casual learning discussions on succulents and cacti. We also visit private gardens, nurseries and take occasional field trips in the area and have fun creating craft projects: wreath making, pumpkin decorating with succulents, etc., creating succulent dish gardens, decorating flower pots, etc. At the conclusion of our gatherings, refreshments are always provided. Notices will appear in our newsletter and RSVPs are requested.
Garden Related Outings Study Group
Garden Related Outings (GRO) are trips taken monthly, most of the SRGC year, to one or two sites for a tour and then a brown bag lunch which each attendee brings. The outings are held on the third Wednesday of each month, starting in the morning. Visits are made to private homes, nurseries and other sites that provide valuable information as well as a chance to see some lovely places. They are popular as they are both social and educational events. New members get the opportunity to meet other members and the rest of the attendees get to reacquaint and catch up with old friends. A fee of $5-$10 is charged for events where a gift will be provided to non-member hosts. During January and February discussion groups are held at a SRGC member’s home which is always fun and educational. Carpooling is available and RSVPs are requested.
